“Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all." - Aristotle
Leadership and collaboration are two key elements in the teaching profession. It is very important for a teacher to be able to demonstrate both excellently. The following artifacts give examples of my experience with leadership and collaboration throughout my time at NC State. I have included a mock school improvement plan (SIP), a video of my Wolfpack Writing Project (a project done in a required education course that allowed us to collaborate with the Centennial Campus Magnet Middle School 6th graders to create and perform original poetry), and a video of a book talk I completed with a peer.
In addition to these artifacts, I participated in the 1000th session of The LeaderShape Institute in May of 2013. This experience helped guide me in the direction of my vision to help students figure out their passions and work toward them. I came away from LeaderShape a completely changed person. I learned ways to lead by example as well as lead by delegating, both skills that I have had issues with in the past but am working on.
